Dear Friends,

Hello! I know it's been far too long. Update in a nutshell: I have been working full-time for the last two and a half years. At San Gabriel Valley Alliance Church, I teach Sunday School, counsel the college group, and take part in the young adult fellowship. I am living with two high school buddies in Glendora, just a few miles from where I grew up. I usually find time to play games and read, as well as court a wonderful young lady in Corona.

Discursive update: I have been a Christian for 10 years now. In that time, I have moved from doubt to ambivalence to acceptance, and now, to urgency for the preaching of God's gospel message to people who have never heard of Him. God, through His grace, has led me to join a short term missions trip to China this summer. We will share the love of Jesus Christ through teaching. Our team will teach a two-week English program to a group of junior high English teachers who live in the Huang Shan (Yellow Mountain) area of China.

The trip runs from July 11 - August 2, working with long-term Christian and Missionary Alliance workers in China. I am especially excited that we will join up with East Bay Alliance Church in Oakland, where I spent my college years.

My prayer is that my life will be used to bring other people closer to Jesus Christ. This letter is to ask you for your prayer. The success of this trip hinges on God alone, who wants us to intercede for one another through prayer. If the Lord leads you, please return the enclosed card and let me know that you will pray for me while we are in China. (Or, if you have received this letter by email, copy and paste the response card into your reply.)

Some readers may want to support this trip financially. Please do not feel any obligation to do this. Our team trusts God for finances; the trip costs $1,800 per person. If God leads you to support me financially, make out your check to SGVAC and put "China stm: [Eric Lui|Team]" in the memo at the bottom of the check. Any support funds will be tax deductible. No junk mail will arrive.

If you elect to be a prayer supporter, I will share what God has done through your support! Expect updates before we leave and a follow-up letter when we return. Updates will be at

God bless you,

Eric Lui
